The Waterfront, Exeter

Returning to this project 10 years after we first carried out the previous refurbishment, the design of the bar area was initiated to improve bar service capacity and to ease workflow for bar staff.

Situated in the historic Quay area of Exeter, the brick vaults created some technical design challenges in the form of uneven floors and restricted services access. On top of this, the installation had to be completed in 3 weeks. The bar has a zinc top and the corrugated steel is coated with a copper vinyl wrap to create a colourful contemporary look that sits well with the industrial history of the building.

Fruition understood our concept very quickly and produced design ideas we would not have thought of. We love the use of zinc! Once the overall design was agreed the most amazing number of very detailed drawings appeared. When we came to the build, these turned out to be invaluable and meant that the construction phase went virtually without a hitch, which is a first for us!
